New York-based Nice Shoes has partnered with production and post house Optimus in Chicago, bringing the former’s New York colorists–remotely–to Chicago advertising agencies. The first remote collaboration was wrapped in March, an eight-spot CDW campaign for Ogilvy & Mather, Chicago.
“This remote color partnership will be a top-level complement to our existing in-house color capabilities. And, it is the perfect place to begin building more collaboration for our other shared strengths,” said Tom Duff, Optimus partner/president.
“Technology has advanced to the point where remote, real-time color on a calibrated system is not only viable, it’s proven,” said Nice Shoes partner/CEO Dominic Pandolfino. “This isn’t an experiment, it’s a fact.” Pandolfino cited other Nice Shoes Remote Color partners in Boston, Dallas, Miami, and Detroit.
Since 2010, Nice Shoes has leveraged proprietary technology featuring a secure HD feed and a display calibrated by the studio’s engineers, so the remote monitors match exactly with the monitors in New York. A dedicated computer running Google Chromebox for Meetings, an enterprise level telepresence solution, allows clients and colorists to collaborate efficiently in real-time.
“When I first met Nice Shoes partners Dominic Pandolfino and Chris Ryan 15 years ago, we immediately hit it off, sharing a personal pride in our own companies and the desire to push the boundaries and move the game forward,” said One at Optimus partner/director of production Craig Leffel.
Nice Shoes partner/colorist Ryan added, “I’ve known Craig and Tom for years and I really respect what they’ve built at Optimus. With the way each of our businesses have evolved, it makes perfect sense for us to partner now.”
