Sal Malfitano has joined Nice Shoes as sr. colorist. He brings eight-plus years of color experience with The Mill and has contributed to assorted high-profile projects, collaborating directly with Lady Gaga on her music video “Applause,” and with the creative team from Anomaly to deliver the Emmy-nominated Super Bowl spot titled “A Hero’s Welcome” for Budweiser.
Instrumental in bringing Malfitano aboard Nice Shoes was executive producer Ed Koenig who came to the studio in May. The two had worked together some time ago when Malfitano was an assistant and Koenig was a runner at The Mill. “When I had the opportunity to add to our color team, the first thing I did was call Sal,” said Koenig. “He brings a unique point of view to our roster. Sal learned to grade in a slightly different style to the colorists at Nice Shoes, and I think he will complement our offering very well.”
Besides helping to add Malfitano to the Nice Shoes team, Koenig also signed a new remote partner in Minneapolis. He plans to continue strengthening bonds with agency clients in New York, while also growing the studio’s network of remote partnerships, including those in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, New Orleans, and Santa Monica.
Koenig came to Nice Shoes after years with MPC, where played a key role in building out the company’s U.S. color department as executive producer.
“Nice Shoes is always evolving,” said Nice Shoes CEO Dominic Pandolfino. “Sal and Ed are a natural addition to the rest of our team, and offer new perspectives as well as additional talent for clients.”
