Moxie Pictures has signed director Rory Kennedy for global representation spanning commercials and branded content.
Kennedy is an Academy Award-nominated, primetime Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker who has made over 30 films, including Downfall: The Case Against Boeing (Netflix), Last Days in Vietnam (PBS' American Experience), and Ethel (HBO), all of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Kennedy’s latest film, The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari, was the #1 Netflix film in the world during its release week in December 2022. Kennedy recently premiered her new HBO 4-part documentary series, The Synanon Fix, at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
Kennedy’s Oscar nomination came in 2015 for Best Feature Documentary in recognition of Last Days in Vietnam for which she served as producer and director. She has six Primetime Emmy nominations, winning Best Nonfiction Special distinction for Ghosts of Abu Ghraib in 2007. She was also nominated for an Emmy that year for directing Ghosts of Abu Ghraib.
Kennedy’s work has appeared on streamers and broadcast networks including Netflix, HBO, National Geographic and Hulu. She has appeared on The Daily Show, The Today Show, CNN, and NPR. Kennedy served two terms as governor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and is a founding member of Climate Emergency Fund.
Kennedy has directed numerous commercial projects that include “The Evolution of Barbie” for Mattel, a behind-the-scenes spot looking at the creation of the new generation of Barbie dolls, and a series of spots for Verizon addressing the nation’s digital divide.

Kennedy was previously represented in the advertising arena by Nonfiction Unlimited. She currently lives outside of Los Angeles with her husband, three children, two goats, two nice dogs, one mean dog, and a 62-year-old tortoise named Zippy.
