Milk & Honey Production Services, headquartered in Los Angeles, has formed an alliance with Mexico City-based production services shop Ultra Films, which is under the aegis of president Jean-Michel Lacor. Per the deal, Ultra will oversee commercial shoots in Mexico for Milk & Honey’s ad agency and production company clients. Previously these spot projects were handled by Milk & Honey Films/Mexico, but that firm, headed by executive producer Jose Ludlow, now shifts its focus to feature, telefilm and miniseries production.
Milk and Honey Production Services’ partner/executive producer Howard Woffinden explained that in order to "expand Milk & Honey’s commercial capabilities in Mexico and better serve our clients, we decided to separate commercial and longform responsibilities." He cited Lacor’s ties to Mexico’s filmmaking community and access to top crew and equipment. Ultra recently provided production support to such jobs as Pepsi’s "Goal" directed by Joe Pytka of Venice, Calif.-based PYTKA for BBDO New York; and "Qualcomm" for the telecommunications firm of the same name, directed by David Ramser of bicoastal/international The Artists Company.
Conversely, Woffinden and Milk & Honey partner Greg Gold will represent Ultra stateside, expanding its North American reach. In addition to providing commercial production services, Ultra Films executive produces and produces features for the European and Mexican markets.
Founded by partners/executive producers Woffinden, Gold and Tomas Krejci in ’96, Milk & Honey Films is an international entertainment company with two divisions. Milk & Honey Production Services; and Milk & Honey Pictures (MHP). The latter produces creative content for the feature, television, and home video markets. Meanwhile, Milk & Honey Production Services maintains offices in Prague, Montreal, Toronto, Mexico City, Moscow, Rome (through its alliance with Panorama Films) and London (through its alliance with First City Films), and orchestrates shoots for the feature film, television, commercial, and music video arenas.
Among Milk & Honey Production Services’ latest endeavors was facilitating production in Prague for the new Timex i-Control watch campaign directed by Tim Burton via A Band Apart 35mm, Los Angeles, for Fallon, Minneapolis. One of those commercials, "Mannequin," was named a SHOOT "Top Spot" (6/9).
