Mike Lear has joined Erwin Penland as EVP/executive creative director. A former creative at The Martin Agency, Lear will work out of the Greenville office and be a part of creative strategy and management for Erwin Penland clients including, but not limited to, Denny’s and L.L.Bean. In addition to creative responsibilities, Lear will work on new business efforts.
Lear spent 11 years at The Martin Agency, where he worked on clients including Geico, UPS, NASCAR, Discover Card, American Cancer Society, Mentos, and also managed SiriusXM, Midas, The Smithsonian, and The Onion. Prior to The Martin Agency, Lear was at Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami, working on MINI, IKEA, Google and Virgin-Atlantic. His most notable work includes the Microsoft Cortana launch in 2014. Award wins span the traditional circuit, but Lear was proudly awarded one of the first One Show Pencils ever given for digital work for the MINI Cooper Robot Campaign.
“Of course we’re always looking for great creative minds, but more importantly good people who just feel like ‘us,” said Con Williamson, Erwin Penland’s chief creative officer. “So when we got a chance to grab Mike, we couldn’t pass the opportunity up. He’s already jumped in and started making a huge difference in the work, and the culture…It feels like Mike’s been working with us for years. He’s home.”
Erwin Penland maintains offices in New York and Greenville, and is a member of The Interpublic Group of Companies.
