Great Guns USA has hired seasoned executive producer Michel Waxman as its managing EP in the U.S.
Waxman brings over 20 years of experience within advertising and branded entertainment to Grear Guns. She will work in the L.A. office of the global production company.
Waxman began her career as a commercial rep at Creative Management Partners in 1996, where she learnt the industry from a diverse and experienced group of agents, managers and executive producers, while building relationships with clients including Academy Films, DNA and Serious Pictures. These relationships turned out to be invaluable in 2002, when Waxman opened her own commercial repping company, MBW Represents, with those three clients at the core of its roster. Over 13 years, MBW Represents grew its roster to include the likes of Gorgeous, Park Pictures and Rattling Stick.
Waxman has worked with the very best in the business across production, postproduction, agencies and brands within the U.S. and globally. Before joining Great Guns, she was EP at Framestore Pictures, EP and head of global sales at Nonfiction Unlimited, executive producer at Chelsea Picture’s LA office and at Serial Pictures.
Waxman believes in creating an open and honest dialogue with directors both experienced and fledgling, to nurture their creative talent, set goals and help them expand upon their individual voices within the industry. As part of Great Guns, Waxman will continue to identify and work with filmmakers, including a new generation of storytellers with diverse voices, who are unafraid to grapple with new technologies and create work that cuts through the noise.
Waxman commented, “My arrival at Great Guns feels like a representation of my evolution and what continues to inspire me in this industry. My connection with Laura Gregory (founder and CEO) was immediate and her enthusiasm and intelligence is positively contagious. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Laura and Sheridan Thomas (global EP) and all the big guns at Great Guns. We see eye to eye on the importance of global collaboration, equally supporting top tier talent with high level creative growth and nurturing fresh new talent, figuring out innovative ways to be a resource for brands and clients, and managing the breadth of branded entertainment opportunities for all our filmmakers. It’s all changing fast, but we are faster.”
Gregory added “Michel’s first Great Guns project was three spots that our director, Olly Blackburn, just shot with Bradley Cooper in NY. It was great for me to see the value she brought to the daily process. On set, you could immediately tell that everyone appreciated her presence. She has such a confident aura about her, and her insightful observations really helped improve the films. Plus, she’s such fun to be with.”
