THE SPOTS
Three commercials focus on the importance of safe driving and the Texas Department of Transportation’s commitment to maintaining that safety. In "Bowling Pins" (:30), bowling pins that are illustrated to look like construction workers nervously await the arrival of a bowling ball. As the ball heads toward them, a voiceover states, "When you speed or drive recklessly through someone’s workspace, you’re putting a lot of lives in jeopardy. Slow down, pay attention to the signs. Give us a brake." The bowling ball then veers off into the gutter much to the relief of the pins. In the :10 "Surrender Flag," a man waves a flag at a construction site, while the narrator is heard: "When you drive through a road construction area, pay attention to the signs and slow down. Road workers want to get home safely too." The tag "Give us a brake" appears onscreen. And in the :10 "Runaway Sign," a construction worker on a sign comes alive and runs for its life, as the narrator says, "When you speed or drive recklessly through someone’s workspace, you’re putting a lot of lives in jeopardy. Give us a brake. Pay attention to the signs."
