THE SPOTS
Three :30s feature people sharing their good news about saving money with GEICO at inappropriate times. In "Lawyer," an inmate waits in a room while his lawyer is on the phone. When he hangs up, the lawyer shares his good fortune about GEICO with the prisoner, who was hoping for news about a possible release. "Pitcher" opens on a baseball game. The manager arrives at the pitching mound and tells the hurler that he has good news, but then informs him that he’s out of the game. When the pitcher questions the skipper, the manager tells him the good news was about his saving money with GEICO. And "Newscast" opens on an on-air newsroom, where a story is breaking on a volcanic eruption. The on-the-scene newsman—who’s in front of the lava-spilling mountain—tells viewers that even though there’s an obvious problem, he has good news: he saved by using GEICO.
