Margarita Mix, an audio postproduction mainstay in Hollywood, has expanded to the Westside with the opening of Margarita Mix de Santa Monica. The launch adds to The L.A. Studios, Inc., family of audio post shops which now consists of the two Margarita Mix facilities, Zona Playa in Santa Monica, and The L.A. Studios, Hollywood. COO Jesse Meli is at the helm of parent company The L.A. Studios.
Moving from Margarita Mix’s Hollywood shop to the Santa Monica operation are mixers Jimmy Hite, Tim "Rocko" Rock, Jeff Levy and Rich Rauh. General manager Byron Greco supervises Margarita Mix de Santa Monica, and assistant manager Verena Karalla schedules along with Lori Vinciguerra. Joan Webb-Ewen serves as director of sales & marketing, and Keith Scheyving leads the technical staff.
Margarita Mix de Santa Monica features four mixing suites and a pre-lay transfer room, all networked with Postations, the audio production system from Digital Studio Processing (dSP) of New South Wales, Australia. Margarita Mix de Santa Monica is the first West Coast studio to install the fully networked Postation system and serves as a flagship facility for dSP.
Margarita Mix de Santa Monica is a 12,280 square foot facility located just off the 10 Freeway. Acoustical architects, Studio bau:ton, interior designer Margot Alofsin and management and engineering teams from The L.A. Studios, collaborated to transform what was once an antique store into an audio complex with the atmosphere of a Mexican resort. The studios surround an open-air courtyard, complete with Old World fountains and cactus gardens reminiscent of a Mexican plaza. The four audio mixing suites have been dubbed "Amada" (Beloved), "Bella" (Beautiful), "Conception" (Conception) and "Dulce" (Sweet).
Margarita Mix de Santa Monica has already wrapped some initial projects, including commercials for The Gap and Jeep Wrangler.
