Editorial boutique mad.house, New York, has added three artisans: Editors Christopher Koons and Karama Horne; and Flame artist/Smoke editor Chris Davis.
Since March, and before taking on this staff position, Horne had worked with the firm as a freelance editor. Her credits through mad.house include "Diner" for Depend via Campbell Mithun Esty, New York, and Burger King’s "The Deal" via Lowe Lintas & Partners, New York. Prior to freelancing, Horne worked at Hudson River Pictures, New York, where she was an editor from May 1999 to February ’00, cutting spots and promos. These included Calvin Klein’s "Open," a client-direct assignment; and Fieldcrest’s "Portraits" and ESPN’s "Shameless Stunt" via Greenberg Advertising, New York. Just prior to that, she worked at the New York office of bicoastal Crew Cuts (which has additional shops in Santa Monica and San Francisco). She joined Crew Cuts in ’97 as an assistant editor, later becoming cutting assistant to editor Gary Hernandez. (Hernandez recently left Crew Cuts to become a founding partner in New York-based editing company The Well). After graduating with a degree in film and television production from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., in ’93, Horne became an online assistant editor with Optimus, Chicago.
Koons has spent the past three years as an editor at New York-based Park Avenue Post, cutting spots for clients including IBM, Conde Nast Publications and Rolling Stone. Prior to that he worked at the now defunct National Video Industries (NVI) as a senior editor, from ’95-’97, cutting music videos for such acts as hip-hop performer KRS One and indie rock band Babe the Blue Ox. While at NVI, Koons also edited a 13-part animated TV series called Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communications in ’90 from Ohio University, where he specialized in video production.
Davis comes to mad.house from the New York office of digital effects studio Click 3X, which also maintains offices in Atlanta, Santa Monica and San Francisco. At Click 3X, he was a Flame/Inferno artist from January ’98 to November ’99, working on campaigns such as ESPN’s Sunday Night Football "Talking Dogs," which was a series of 15 spots via Wieden+ Kennedy, New York. Prior to Click 3X, he worked as an assistant designer and Flint artist for design/editorial house Two Headed Monster, Hollywood, from February ’95 to November ’97. Davis graduated from Duke University, Durham, N.C., in ’92, where he studied engineering.
Other mad.house editors include president Craig Warnick, VP Rob Tortoriello, Ben Whitten, Ron Len, Ross Axiotis and Jason Sedmak.
