"Game of Thrones" tops TV tally with 3 nods from Motion Picture Sound Editors
The Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) announced nominees for the 63rd MPSE Golden Reel Awards. Nominees represent the work of the world’s most talented sound artists and their contributions to the past year’s most outstanding feature film, television, animation and computer entertainment productions.
Topping the feature film categories with three nominations apiece were Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Leading the way in television was Game of Thrones, which also tallied three nods.
“This year’s Golden Reel nominees have produced an outstanding body of work encompassing motion pictures, television, documentaries, gaming and other mediums,” said MPSE president Frank Morrone. “Our members continue to impress with their ability to develop new techniques and find creative ways to employ sound as a means of enriching storytelling.”
The MPSE Golden Reel Awards recognize outstanding achievement in sound editing in 24 categories encompassing feature films, television, animation, computer entertainment and student work. The 63rd MPSE Golden Reel Awards will be held February 27 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in Los Angeles.

Eleanor Adds Director Candice Vernon To Its Roster For Spots and Branded Content

Febreze Brand VP Angelica Matthews said, “About two years ago, we realized the consumers that were the most loyal to Febreze were the African American consumers. And the more we learned, the more we realized the richness that we were really missing. So we said we have to go beyond just Black casting, we need to get Black directors that truly understand the culture that truly understand how to bring authentic performances out on screen. We really looked around the industry and noticed there’s actually a shortage of African American directors who have experience doing commercials. When we all saw Candice’s reel, we could all tell the passion for the craft, passion for really trying to help us from where we are to where we’re trying to go.”
Vernon brings a unique lens to... Read More
