Oscar-winning visual effects and creative content studio Framestore has tapped Luis Ribeiro as executive producer in New York. Riberio’s primary focus will be oversight of business development for Framestore’s four main commercial divisions: VFX, Digital/VR, Live Action and Design. He will work collaboratively with James Razzall, who previously held the vacated position and was promoted last year to the North American sales umbrella-role of sr. exec producer, based out of Los Angeles. Ribeiro will report directly to Jon Collins, president of Integrated Advertising, Worldwide.
The hire comes at a time of steady growth across Framestore’s commercials division in the U.S. The company recently increased its leadership team headcount, bringing on Jennifer Siegel and John Duffin as executive producers of live action in New York and Los Angeles, and Emmy winner Alberto Mielgo as design director out of LA.
“Framestore is coming off of a year where we’ve raised the bar for where we are going as a company,” said Collins. “In the U.S., we launched completely new offerings, like a fully-dedicated Virtual Reality Studio that’s already produced eight groundbreaking projects; received numerous client briefs calling for all-in projects; and partnered with technology companies that are fundamentally reshaping how we interact with the world. We knew we needed a dedicated person here in New York who could both understand what we were capable of, mobilize a whole office around it and convert that magic into more unique opportunities. Luis is just the man to do it.”
Before joining Framestore, Ribeiro was new business developer at Whitehouse Post. He was previously VP of the Latin Division for Deluxe Entertainment, which oversees a network of media and entertainment service companies like Beast Editorial (whose Latin division Ribeiro founded), CO3 and Method Studios. Prior to that, he worked in Sao Paulo for a period of time, first opening consulting firm Ambassador Digital Group and then taking on the position of U.S. Consultant for FilmBrazil. While in the states, he held business development positions at companies like Speedshape, Method Studios and CO3. At CO3, he worked almost exclusively on Apple projects for TBWA/Media Arts Lab.
