Lively Group–the New York and Paris-based creative collective focused on branding, design, production, visual effects, and editorial–has launched Decibel, a sound division under the aegis of audio mixers Tom Goldblatt and Mat Guido along with EP Kate Albers.
Decibel has hit the ground running with work for the HBO series Ballers; sound design for the acclaimed Instagram #FoodFilms directed by David Ma; mixing the latest installment of Cigna’s star-studded “TV Doctors” campaign, as well as projects for Maybelline and Bloomberg. Decibel is located at Lively’s New York office, on the newly renovated and redesigned 22nd floor, and includes two fully equipped state of the art 5.1 Surround Sound rooms.
Goldblatt, formerly of Audio Engine, brings his vast experience to one of the rooms at Decibel. A range of clients from directors Tom Hooper and Bennett Miller, to Justin Timberlake and U2 front man Bono, to actors including Alec Baldwin and Andy Samberg have all turned to Goldblatt for his sonic expertise. His mixing and sound design work has won many major awards.
Running Decibel’s other studio is mixer Guido. He worked closely with a renowned acoustic design firm to build the Decibel studios with the latest top of the line equipment and technology. Guido’s sound design and original compositions can be heard in films screened at festivals around the world including Cannes, London, Toronto and SXSW, and his ad mixing has been heard in broadcast spots internationally.
Rounding out the Decibel team is EP Albers, formerly of Sound Lounge. Albers started in the industry on the agency side at mcgarrybowen, then moved on to work at a multimedia startup, before being pulled back into advertising and the world of audio post. Albers has a deep understanding of the day-to-day running of a studio, having worked with clients such as Ford, Avocados from Mexico, Aquafina, BMW, Mountain Dew, and Sprint. She’s excited to bring her client experience and commitment to quality to help grow Decibel alongside the Lively Group brands.
Decibel is the audio counterpart to the Lively Group collection of companies, which includes Spontaneous, BlueRock and Scarlett. The launch of Decibel broadens its longstanding commitment to creating valuable content for established and emerging brands.
