Director Duncan Sharp has joined spot production house Life of Riley for exclusive representation. The signing follows the Pacific Palisades-based companys recent formalization of its working relationship with director Glenn Miller, the addition of David Kleinman as head of production, and the hiring of independent rep Maureen Melvin to handle the West Coast.
Sharp, who was formerly repped by Valiant Pictures, San Francisco, said he was drawn to Life of Riley by both its founder/executive producer, Paige Kamin, and Kleinman. Theyre low-key, funny and honest, but very serious about the business, assessed Sharp.
The director came to the attention of Life of Riley through a mutual friend at McCann-Erickson, Seattle. Kamin cited Sharps edgy visuals and cinematic storytelling, but with a comedic bent as being of appeal in the spot marketplace.
Under the Life of Riley banner, Sharp has already wrapped a PSA for the Domestic Abuse Womens Network in the State of Washington for Bozell Worldwide, Seattle, and an E-Memories.com project via Deustch LA, Los Angeles. Before joining Life of Riley, Sharp had wrapped a client-direct job for Eddie Bauer.
Prior to Valiant, Sharp operated his own Seattle shop, Section 8 Films, where he helmed music videos for such artists as Mudhoney, Johnny Cash, Seven Year Bitch, Gas Huffer and Kris Kristofferson. Also via Section 8, Sharp directed, shot and edited a documentary for the band Pearl Jam on its 96 world tour.
