For her work on King Richard, Pamela Martin, ACE won the American Cinema Editors (ACE) Eddie Award for best edited dramatic feature film. Taking the comedy feature honor were Myron Kerstein, ACE and Andrew Weisblum, ACE for tick, tick…Boom! These and other awards spanning both features and television were presented during the 72nd annual Eddie Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on Saturday (3/5).
Jeremy Milton, ACE won best editor of an animated feature for Encanto. Topping the outstanding theatrical feature documentary category was Joshua L. Pearson for Summer of Soul…Or When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised. Earning the same distinction for a nontheatrial documentary was Jabez Olssen for “Episode 3” of The Beatles: Get Back.
Among the other marquee TV winners were: Kevin Eluto, ACE whose work on the “All the Bells Say” episode of Succession won for best edited drama series; Susan Vaill, ACE for best edited single-camera comedy series for the “1.69 Million” episode of Hacks; Daniel Schalk, ACE and Joseph Fulton for best edited multi-camera comedy series on the strength of the “Live Free or Die” episode of Kevin Can F**k Himself; and Amy E. Duddleston, ACE who toppped the limited series catgory for the “Illusions” installment of Mare of Easttown.
Beyond the winners in competitive categories, Michelle Satter accepted the prestigious ACE Golden Eddie Award–recognizing an artist or company for distinguished achievement in film–on behalf of The Sundance Institute; two-time Oscar® winner and 2021 ACE Eddie nominee Chloe Zhao presented the honor. Film editors Lillian E. Benson, ACE and Richard Chew, ACE received Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing with long time collaborators Debbie Allen presenting to Benson, and Emilio Estevez presenting to Chew.
