SANTA MONICA, Calif.-Producer Denny Kennedy has joined the staff of Atlas Pictures, Santa Monica. According to Atlas president Sterling Ray, Kennedy will oversee all production activity, domestic and international, for director Adam Massey.
Additionally, on an interim basis during the maternity leave of Atlas executive producer Sharn Stinson Ure, Kennedy will exec. produce for the company’s full roster of directors, including Massey, Jim Byrkit, Toby Phillips and Alexander von David.
Kennedy first teamed up with Massey two years ago while working on "Hockey," a Molson Export spot for McLaren McCann,Toronto. As Massey’s popularity (and production schedule) grew, the director looked to make his relationship with Kennedy permanent. Prior to relocating to Los Angeles, Kennedy freelance produced commercials in Canada for such U.S.-based directors as Erick Ifergan (Serial Dreamer, West Hollywood), Meiert Avis (Windmill Lane Productions, Santa Monica) and Bob Purman (Moxie Pictures, bicoastal). In fact, Massey and Kennedy recently returned from British Columbia, where the director shot a Kokanee campaign for Labatt’s out of Bryant, Fulton & Shee, Vancouver. The job was produced by Players, Toronto.
"From the first job with Adam, it was clear to me that a promising career was in the making," said Kennedy of the director. "Witnessing his creative work, and collaborative demeanor with agency creatives made the decision to form a partnership and relocate to the U.S. an easy one."
