I got to cut a really fun piece last fall. It was for Universal Orlando and it was for their big Halloween event. The challenge was not establishing tension but controlling its escalation as well as the emotional ramp of the two main characters. The woman was fantastic, but the guy had a tendency to go real big, real fast, so I really had to mine his performance for any subtlety. I chose this piece, not so much for the challenges it posed, but for its unusual nature. By and large, what we do everyday is make people laugh, cry or feel warm inside; very rarely (at least for me) do we get the opportunity to push the fear envelope.
