Move over Godzilla, Gamera and the rest of you Japanese movie monsters. Yellow-the yellow peanut M&M’s character featured in commercials for the candy-is the beast on the loose and wreaking havoc in a Japanese city in a new :30 called "Pituitary." Created by BBDO New York and directed by Rob Pritts of Backyard Productions, Venice, Calif. and Chicago, the spot cleverly hypes the latest M&M’s promotion by spoofing Japanese monster flicks-mimicking the shoddy production quality, poor dubbing and lousy acting that make these films so funny.
Kiyoshi Yoshida, Mako, Seichi Saito, Eiko Nijo and Megumi Hosogai were the principal actors in this spot. The SAG/AFTRA Commercials Contract Standing Committee has granted a waiver to allow commercials to be available for viewing on SHOOTonline.com. The spots cannot be copied, downloaded or emailed.
