Post boutique Hooligan has signed editor Tom Schachte, formerly of Wild(child). His body of work spans commercials, branded content, TV shows and documentaries. Schachte has collaborated with such directors over the years as Elma Garcia, Raymond Bark, Scott Duncan and Marcus Stevens. The editor’s reel includes brands such as AOL, AT&T, eBay, Hasbro, Moviefone, Royal Caribbean Special Olympics, Toyota and Verizon.
Educated in Manchester by way of Penn State University, Schachte’s entertainment career embarked as an intern at BBC News. The network eventually turned him loose to cover rock festivals with his Bolex camera. Returning stateside, a 24-year-old Schachte soon found himself heading the editorial department of a Southeast production company. He then spent the next five years working on a CBS children’s show which garnered several Emmy nominations.
Schachte discovered his passion for cutting commercials after heading to Los Angeles to continue his filmmaking career. Honing his craft under legendary editor Jacques Dury, he solidified his niche in advertising before going on to launch Straight Cut. From Budweiser to Boeing, Schachte worked with assorted brands and agencies during his company’s 16-year run. Blue Rock ultimately recruited him back to New York, where he has lived ever since. After a lengthy tenure at BlueRock, he joined Wild(child) in 2012.
