THE SPOT
In the :30 "You Can’t Hide," a man stands at a vending machine in a corporate break room. He gets a cup of coffee but suddenly senses the presence of something evil. He begins walking quickly down a corridor, looking over his shoulder, finally descending into a stairwell. Bursting through a door, the man slowly looks around the corner and sees a flash of white light. A super appears onscreen: "You can run from bad technology, but you can’t hide." In a panic, the man finds himself amidst monitors, wires and cables. The Sun Microsystems logo appears, along with the tagline, "We make the net reliable. We make the net secure. We make the network." In "Snap" (:30) a CIO talks to a consultant in a data center. The CIO asks, "How am I supposed to manage all of this?" The consultant snaps his fingers and more specialists appear, all dressed in identical attire. The CIO tells the man that that’s not what he had in mind, but again the consultant snaps his fingers, with more of the men appearing until the room is packed like a sardine can. "Why not build a data center that manages itself?" states the on-screen super. The spot cuts back to the consultant who asks himself why he’s paying the consultant. Again, the logo appears along with the same tagline.
