Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P), San Francisco, has hired former Grey London creative team Theo Bayani and Miguel Gonzalez as well as Google Creative Lab creative technologist Troy Lumpkin.
At Grey London, Bayani and Gonzalez spent nearly four years as senior creatives, where they led the HSBC Bank and Vodafone Ireland accounts. Most notably, they created the Cannes Lions–winning spot “Lift” for HSBC as well as the multiple award-winning print ad “Fat Cats” for the Sunday Times’ “Rich List,” which picked up three Outdoor Gold Cannes Lions and several D&AD Wood Pencils. Other notable work includes “Lucozade,” a comical TV spot showing people in “the flow,” which received a One Show Merit Award and relaunched the brand’s credentials as the leading energy drink in the UK.
Before Grey London, Bayani and Gonzalez were at DLKW Lowe (now MullenLowe) for two years, where they worked on and produced award-winning campaigns for Unilever brand Persil, work that picked up awards at such international shows as the Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia and Epica.
Lumpkin, a graduate of Parsons School of Design, joins GS&P from Google Creative Lab, where he worked as a creative technologist across VR, Google Translate and Google Photos. There he created a VR capture tool called Sprayscape, which Google describes as “a perfectly imperfect VR-ish camera for faces, places and spaces.”
In his new role as creative technologist in GS&P’s BETA Group, Lumpkin will deploy his experience in creative direction and technology to oversee an internal hacker group that will work on client-related projects and develop tools and products.
“We are so excited to welcome more award-winning talent like Theo and Miguel,” said Margaret Johnson, GS&P partner and chief creative officer. “With Troy also joining us, I look forward to continuing our culture of in-house innovation, which has always been signature to GS&P.”
These new additions follow GS&P’s recent hiring of adam&eveDDB creative team Jo Cresswell and Sian Coole, creators of the famous John Lewis Insurance “Tiny Dancer” spot, and of Mike Costello, who produced the award-winning “Van Gogh BnB” campaign at Leo Burnett Chicago.
Sinners and Saints Adds Apple Pie To Its Branded Menu
Bicoastal Sinners and Saints--the multidisciplinary studio overseen by managing director/executive producer Heather Heller, and partners/EPs Yann Henric and Thomas Carroll--has added Apple Pie Tabletop to its roster for branded content. Known for its food and beverage content creation, Apple Pie comprises the husband-and-wife team of director/DP Gene Dubin and director/art director Alisa Volodina. In addition to representation, the move expands Apple Pie’s production capabilities through the combination of its centrally located full-service studio in New York and a newly established mobile studio in Los Angeles. Apple Pie recently teamed with Sinners and Saints on a Wienerschnitzel project created by Innocean.
“We believe that our dual studio strategy positions us uniquely in the competitive landscape of food and beverage storytelling,” said Heller. “By blending the artistry of the New York studio with the flexibility of our Los Angeles location, we can tailor our productions to meet the unique demands of each project, regardless of geography.”
“Working with Sinners and Saints in the demanding field of tabletop was an absolute pleasure,” shared Apple Pie Tabletop in a joint statement. “Warm welcome, unwavering support and dedication--everything a director can ask for. The entire experience was both enjoyable and rewarding. We will not miss an opportunity to collaborate with them again.”
“The first thing you notice is that Apple Pie has beautiful work,” Heller observed. “Having worked with them, I can say that Gene and Alisa are extremely meticulous and detail-oriented; their combination of talent and agility appeals to agencies and clients.” Also appealing to Heller is Apple Pie Tabletop’s brisk international...
