Director Fenar Ahmad has joined Furlined for commercial representation in the U.S. and U.K., marking his first formal production house roost in those markets. He continues to be handled by Bacon in Denmark where his spotmaking credits include such brands as Reebok and Pepsi.
Ahmad wrote and directed the feature film Darkland, which was released earlier this year to critical acclaim and subsequently shortlisted as one of three films to be selected as the potential Danish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. (You Disappear was ultimately chosen as the Danish submission for Academy Award consideration.)
Darkland is Ahmad’s second feature; he has directed documentaries, short films, music videos and commercials.
“Fenar weaves together gripping performances and dramatic action seamlessly, creating emotional tension and gut-wrenching anticipation,” said Diane McArter, founder and president of Furlined. “He is a cinematic storyteller balancing the dynamic and deeply human.”
His range as a filmmaker is also reflected in his next project Valhalla, a children’s tale rooted in Nordic mythology.
Olly Chapman, managing director of Furlined U.K., said of Ahmad, “He’s a natural filmmaker–stylistically diverse, with the great ability to combine hard-nosed realism with superb performances and film craft.”
Ahmad divides his time between Denmark and L.A.
