THE SPOT
"Coliseum" opens on two gladiators battling it out in an arena while a beautiful young lady watches from a front row seat. The viewer then hears a man’s voice stating, "I think Jeff has got the upper hand." The spot cuts to a contemporary bar, where two men (one of whom was the speaker) are watching another pair of guys (the aforementioned gladiators) try to verbally win over the young woman. Alas, the lady is not interested in either of them. A voiceover accompanies a close-up of the product: "Introducing Smirnoff Twisted V." The ad then shifts back to the bar where we see that the woman is actually looking past the gladiators and at a bottle of Smirnoff Twisted V. Finally, the scene changes back to the coliseum, where both gladiators are given a change of weaponry, as the young lady looks on with a raised eyebrow. The :30 ends with the narrator pointing out that "Life’s more interesting twisted."
Spot broke Aug. 18.
