Mired in dead-end office boredom—that’s the predicament facing a woman who’s seated at her workstation cubicle. She is collating and stapling multiple copies of a report.
But glimpses of her workspace suggest that she has other talents, which could be her ticket out of the mundane nine-to-five routine. As she repeatedly and mindlessly presses down on her stapler, we get a glimpse of paperclips bent to form a little person perched atop her computer.
Another piece of art is attached to a nearby black felt bulletin board: it’s an origami-like creation—some paper was shaped into a lovely flower with purple petals, an orange center and a green stem and leaves.
As the woman continues to staple away, we see a cup filled with pencils. Crumpled paper has been attached to the top of each pencil. Collectively, the pencils look like a bouquet of flowers, with the cup serving as a modest vase.
A super then appears on screen: "All That Talent."
Again, her artistic prowess is showcased—this time with her inventive use of a long pink eraser, which has been transformed into a dog’s body, with pushpins for legs and a head, and a tail made from a long stickpin.
A second super reads, "So Few Outlets."
As the woman continues her humdrum office work, she yawns and sighs. A parting super offers a means of a possible escape: "Bellevue Art Museum. Fall classes enrolling now."
