Wondros, the L.A.-based strategic consultancy and media/production company, has added executive producer Jeremy Barrett. He brings to Wondros a roster of director clients, including several who were with him at his prior roost, Paydirt Pictures, such as Leila & Damien de Blinkk, Emil Kahr, Vern Moen, and This is Felo, as well as the photographer-filmmakers of Webber Represents. Just last month, the directorial duo Riess|Hill moved over from Paydirt to Wondros (SHOOT, 9/22).
Anne-Marie Mackay, chief creative officer of Wondros, said, “I have both a professional and personal relationship with Jeremy that spans our working together at Palomar. As Wondros’ business continues to grow outside of traditional storytelling in the commercial format, Jeremy’s vision and creative sensibilities—along with his established roster of directors—are powerful additions to the Wondros culture. His passion and exemplary relationships with brands and talent make him one of a kind and we are fortunate to have him as part of our creative collective.”
Barrett observed, “Consolidation in our ever-changing landscape of commercial and branded content production is actually an expansion of creativity. The roster of clients from my former company fits in perfectly with the vision and community Jesse Dylan and Anne-Marie have developed [at Wondros]. It is our intention to foster the new collective in ways that are boundless in both the traditional and digital distribution realms of short and mid-form storytelling and branded content.”
Barrett began his career as a music video and commercial producer for Big TV! He became head of production at Palomar Pictures in 1994 and set up Palomar’s UK arm as managing director in 1996. Subsequently Barrett was managing director of the UK design and film collective Tomato from 1998 to 2002. He returned to the U.S. in 2003 and produced as a freelancer until co-founding Paydirt in 2008.
Sinners and Saints Adds Apple Pie To Its Branded Menu
Bicoastal Sinners and Saints--the multidisciplinary studio overseen by managing director/executive producer Heather Heller, and partners/EPs Yann Henric and Thomas Carroll--has added Apple Pie Tabletop to its roster for branded content. Known for its food and beverage content creation, Apple Pie comprises the husband-and-wife team of director/DP Gene Dubin and director/art director Alisa Volodina. In addition to representation, the move expands Apple Pie’s production capabilities through the combination of its centrally located full-service studio in New York and a newly established mobile studio in Los Angeles. Apple Pie recently teamed with Sinners and Saints on a Wienerschnitzel project created by Innocean.
“We believe that our dual studio strategy positions us uniquely in the competitive landscape of food and beverage storytelling,” said Heller. “By blending the artistry of the New York studio with the flexibility of our Los Angeles location, we can tailor our productions to meet the unique demands of each project, regardless of geography.”
“Working with Sinners and Saints in the demanding field of tabletop was an absolute pleasure,” shared Apple Pie Tabletop in a joint statement. “Warm welcome, unwavering support and dedication--everything a director can ask for. The entire experience was both enjoyable and rewarding. We will not miss an opportunity to collaborate with them again.”
“The first thing you notice is that Apple Pie has beautiful work,” Heller observed. “Having worked with them, I can say that Gene and Alisa are extremely meticulous and detail-oriented; their combination of talent and agility appeals to agencies and clients.” Also appealing to Heller is Apple Pie Tabletop’s brisk international...
