THE SPOTS
An 11-spot package spoofs the current low carb/Atkins diet craze, while featuring the various food and beverages at fast food restaurant Weinerschnitzel. "Other Diets/Taste Freez Shake" and "Other Diets/99 cent All-Beef Mustard Dog" (:30s) show a couple who tells viewers that they’ve found a diet for them: the Chili Dog Diet. This "diet" consists of a Weinerschnitzel chili dog, which is washed down with a chocolate shake. In "Cravings/$1.39 Italian Sausage or Bratwurst" (:30), a man points out that one can eat other stuff on the Chili Dog Diet, but they want you to stick with chili dogs for the first two weeks. After that, when you have a craving for a corn or relish dog, the Chili Dog Diet allows you to eat it and the craving goes away. "Support/79 cent Corn Dog" (:30) features a woman who is stopped from eating fruit because she found a Weinerschnitzel coupon in the newspaper for a 79 cent corn dog. In "Intolerance/50 cent Cone Combo" (:30), a man who is tofu-intolerant points out that the Chili Dog Diet is for him because "once you get on maintenance, you can eat ice cream." In "New Year’s Resolution/$1.29 All-Beef Chili Dog," a woman relates how she began the Chili Dog Diet in January and it is the only resolution she’s ever kept. In fact, she read the book on the diet and became inspired. Now she downs 20 chili dogs a week. "Not Hungry/2 for $2.22 Chili Cheese Dog & Chili Cheese Burger Deal" and "Egg Foo Young/2 for $2.22 Chili Cheese Dog & Chili Cheese Burger Deal" (:30s) feature a man who was skeptical when he heard about the diet, but now he has a chili dog for breakfast, a chili dog for lunch, and corn dogs and chili cheese fries for dinner, and he’s not hungry. "They Say/$1.29 All-Beef Chili Dog" and "The In Diet/$1.39 Italian Sausage or Bratwurst" (:30s) are Hispanic market versions, while "$1.29 All-Beef Chili Dog" (:10) focuses on food footage of the tasty treat.
