Earth2mars, New York, has added editors David Croll and Jeff Hedberg.
Hedberg moves to the company from New York-based Billy Williams Enterprises (since renamed Moondog), his roost for the past six years. Croll most recently edited through Stolen Car Productions, New York, which he joined in August 1998.
Croll’s credits at Stolen Car included spots for Nassau County Medical Center, Phonefree.com, MetLife and Mercedes Benz. He also edited two pilots for the Oxygen Network: Pure Oxygen and We Sweat.
Prior to Stolen Car, Croll worked as an editor at Jeff Meltzer Editorial, New York, from November ’96, cutting spots for Nokia, Gillette and Tiger Toys, among others. From ’90 to’96, he freelanced, editing projects for the New York offices of companies such as Red Car (which also maintains offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas) and Click 3X (which has additional locations in Atlanta, Santa Monica and San Francisco). Prior to freelancing, Croll spent ’88-’90 working as an editor at Lost Planet, New York, which also has an operation in Santa Monica, and from ’86 to ’87 he was an assistant editor at the now defunct LFR. His first job in the editorial business was at djm Post Production, New York, where from ’82 to’86 he worked as an assistant to editors Ed Friedman and Danny Breen. Croll graduated from New York University’s Institute of Film and Television with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Hedberg started out in the business as an assistant to veteran editor Billy Williams in ’94, working his way through the ranks to junior editor and then editor. He came to Billy Williams, having just earned his Bachelor of Arts, majoring in film, from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.
Recent spots through Billy Williams included Ralph Lauren’s Polo for Boys’ "Boys/ Tyson/Loft" and Neutrogena’s "Unless"-both for Carlson & Partners, New York; Tiger Toys’ "Band Bus" via Posnick & Kolker, New York; and Ethan Allen’s "Avenue" via Grey Advertising, New York.
Hedberg said it wasn’t an easy decision to leave Billy Williams. But he looks forward to spreading his wings beyond the place where he started out, and to gaining exposure to new and different editing techniques and styles.
Earth2mars business manager Tony Pellicano said of Hedberg and Croll: "I think they bring a lot to the table. In the past, we have hired too quickly; this time around, we were very careful and spent a lot of time looking for the right match. Because they are young and up-and-coming editors, it starts to change the face of our company, taking us into the future."
Hedberg and Croll join a roster of editors consisting of Justine Bolger, Jeff Cahn, Eddie Del Pizzo, Joe Laliker and Vinny Pisciotta.
Earth2mars has in-house representation nationally via Collete Boyle and Casey Coghlan.
