Veteran editor Michael Swerdloff has halted operations at Backstreet Edit to join The Pi Edit Company, New York.
After running his New York-based shop for 11 years, Swerdloff explained that he can now focus on the creative side of the business. He noted that this new arrangement would offer him creative freedom and enable him to concentrate on servicing his clients. Pi Edit focuses on the day-to-day aspects of running the business, he commented. Also, Swerdloff said he will be able to spend more time with his family.
At Pi Edit, Swerdloff has already cut campaigns for American Express small business services via Draft Worldwide, New York; Foxwoods Casino via Trahan, Burden & Charles, Baltimore; and Dove Nutrium and Country Time, both via Ogilvy & Mather, New York.
Swerdloff has over 20 years of editorial experience. He was a staff editor at New York-based First Edition for nine years before forming Backstreet. At Backstreet, his more recent editorial work included a Ponds campaign and "Submarine" for Huggies via O&M.
For O&M, Swerdloff had also cut spots for such clients as Jaguar, Pepperidge Farm and Hershey’s. Commercial clients through Trahan, Burden & Charles included Maryland State Lottery, Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, Merry Go Round and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Maryland.
Swerdloff primarily handles TV advertising assignments, although he sometimes steps into other areas. Last year he produced, directed and edited a corporate video for Boston Consulting Group.
