Scott Bell is being elevated from executive creative director to co-chief creative officer of Droga5 New York. In his new role, Bell will partner closely with co-CCO Tim Gordon to oversee Droga5’s creative department and output all while pushing the boundaries on breakthrough, non-traditional creative and communications across new canvasses. The appointment comes on the heels of Felix Richter departing the agency after 11 years to become CCO at Mother London.
During his 12 years at Droga5, Bell has been responsible for creating some of the agency’s most culturally relevant and talked about work including IHOP’s “IHOb,” Mattress Firm’s “Junk Sleep,” Red Wing’s “#LaborDayOn,” Johnsonville’s “Made the Johnsonville Way” and Newcastle Brown Ale’s “If We Made It.” His work has garnered numerous awards including dozens of Cannes Lions across the Film, PR, Radio, Mobile Integrated and Cyber categories. Having previously worked at JWT New York and Barton F. Graff, Bell has also developed lauded campaigns for clients such as JetBlue, MTV, Smirnoff, Swedish Fish, Dish and Domino’s.
“Since day one, Droga5 has made it a point to develop our people so that one day they can take the reins and drive the agency toward the future,” said Susie Nam, CEO of the Americas, Droga5 (which is part of Accenture Interactive). “As one of our longest-serving creatives, Scott represents the very best of our industry and our ongoing quest to create culturally relevant and influential work on behalf of our clients. Scott’s talents and leadership are perfectly suited to shepherd our creative department and push us forward with big platform, culturally relevant work.
Co-CCO Gordon said, “I am especially grateful for Felix’s partnership and contributions to the agency. He is someone I deeply respect and wish all the best to in his new chapter in London. Throughout his time at Droga5, Scott Bell has proven to be a true thinker and instigator–having created breakthrough work that has hacked into popular culture and driven results for our clients. I am looking forward to being co-conspirators together as we continue to make this the most creative and influential agency out there.”
Bell shared, “This is an incredibly exciting time for Droga5 as we deepen our relationships with new and existing clients and explore new arenas where creativity can thrive. I am both humbled and honored to be a part of this next chapter for the agency and I’m very much looking forward to championing a collaborative creative department and looking for the most creative and non-traditional ways to produce influential work for our clients. Let’s have some fun!”
