Production and entertainment company Public Record has signed film and commercial director Zoé Salicrup Junco for her first official commercial representation in the U.S.
Devoting her filmmaking career to unpacking the humanity of underrepresented communities, she has garnered the attention of brands including Herschel, Sony, American Girl, ESPN and Bausch & Lomb, and film festivals such as Tribeca, Palm Springs, Clermont Ferrand, HBO NY Latino Film Festival, Urbanworld, and NALIP Latino Media Fest.
Most recently, her short film Marisol earned the HuffPost Social Impact Award and was acquired by HBO. Her inaugural NYU Tisch School of the Arts thesis film Gabi skyrocketed her career, exposing her to film and commercial directing opportunities and earning multiple accolades including the King Screenwriting Award, the Wasserman Directing Award, and the National Board of Review Student Grant.
Public Record EP Jeremy Yaches assessed, “Zoé is one of the most versatile directors we’ve come across in years. Her commercials are often charming and funny, and yet the narrative films are awash in passion, suspense and grit. I don’t think there’s a limit to what she can do and we’re so excited for the opportunity to bring her talent to a wider audience.”
The director said of her new roost, “They’re all about creating emotionally resonant work and that very much aligns with what I strive to do as a storyteller. I look forward to joining forces with them and creating some exciting new spots.”
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Salicrup Junco turned to ballet as her first creative outlet and spent her entire childhood as a practicing dancer, which quickly turned to a choreography focus. When college application season rolled around, she connected the dots between directing dancers on the stage versus actors on a film set and chose to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in film and television from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a minor in producing. Following the success of Gabi, she accepted commercial projects to hone her craft and establish lasting relationships with brands including Sony–her primary segué between the film and commercial space–Herschel, HBO, PWC and American Girl. She currently has several feature-length projects in development.
The signing adds to the momentum for Brooklyn-based Public Record as it expands further into television and film entertainment enterprises, having recently added Amanda Roth as business manager and Shanice Brette as director of design & development. Recent projects include the Roku doc series The Fix, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, and Public Record partner Jeremiah Zagar’s new film Hustle which lands on Netflix in June, starring Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, NBA Stars Juancho Hernangomez and Anthony Edwards, Robert Duvall and Ben Foster.
Nikki Baker Becomes CEO At Fallon
Fallon has appointed Nikki Baker as its new CEO. Baker, who joined the creative agency in 2018 and has served as co-chief creative officer with Leslie Shaffer since 2021, succeeds Rocky Novak, who has been in the role since 2019.
Baker’s promotion to CEO comes at a time of significant momentum for the agency, including six consecutive years of growth and award-winning work.
Baker’s recent career highlights include creatively leading the Walmart partnership with the Publicis Groupe team and spearheading innovative campaigns such as the award-winning “RomCommerce” 23-episodic series and the internet-breaking Mean Girls campaign, among hundreds of other campaigns together with the brand over the past few years. Together with Shaffer, Baker has also been instrumental in elevating Fallon’s creative output for longstanding clients like Arby’s, Mattress Firm, and Front Door/American Home Shield.
