Unicorns & Unicorns (U&&), a BIPOC women-owned and led studio, has added multi-disciplinary commercial and film director Tamar Levine to its roster for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content. Levine’s experience traverses various realms from fashion to music, and she has directed campaigns for clients including Victoria’s Secret PINK, Urban Decay, Lexus, and Warner Bros Records.
“Tamar has such a unique eye and brings so much creativity to the table,” said Adrianne McCurrach, U&&’s executive producer and co-founder. “When we look for folks to join our stable, we try to find talents with diverse skill sets. Tamar has an innovative design sensibility. She’s a photographer and an incredible director. We’ve had great fun working on projects with her already, and can’t wait for more.”
After graduating from the Art Center College of Design, Levine went on to create commercials, videos, and photo campaigns for a wide swath of clients. Her first career highlight was a solo photography exhibit at Bergamot Station in 2014. She then later began writing and directing short films and music videos that have garnered awards including from ADC Young Guns, New Exposure by Vogue, Redx & Bottega Veneta, Communication Arts, and PDN Photo Annuals. Her first short film, Twenty-Two Date Palm Way, debuted at Young Directors’ Night at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
Prior to joining U&U, Levine had affiliations with production houses such as JOJX and Stories Int’l. She also freelanced.
“As a multi-disciplinary artist [photographer, filmmaker, creative director], it excited me that Unicorns & Unicorns produced a variety of different kinds of work,” said Levine. “Ade and Mercedes [Allen-Sarria, EP] are both working moms. As a new mom, I can look up to them. I also love how diverse the roster is–I have no fear of my work being marginalized.”
