Production company Interrogate has brought Brazilian director Rafaela Carvalho aboard its roster for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content. Her evolution from actress to cinematographer and now to director is a testament to her adaptability, passion, and commitment to her craft. Prior to joining Interrogate, Carvalho was repped by production house JOJX.
From the outset, Interrogate and Carvalho recognized a shared vision in their storytelling ethos. This mutual respect and understanding have become the bedrock upon which they plan to collaborate.
Interrogate’s executive producer, George Meeker, enthused, “Looking at the world through Rafa’s lens has been nothing short of delightful. Her innate ability to craft tales from her subjects’ viewpoints, all while capturing genuine performances, continually blows us away.”
A notable example of Carvalho’s directorial prowess is her campaign for WhatsApp. Shortlisted at the Cannes Lions and the One Show, it dispenses with overt brand promotion in favor of nuanced storytelling and subtle character interactions. This approach underscores Carvalho’s dedication to crafting impactful narratives that not only engage but also provoke thought and enlighten audiences.
Her collaboration with Interrogate is set to elevate this narrative-driven approach, seamlessly merging commercial objectives with societal narratives.
Carvalho said, “Interrogate and I clicked right from the start. It’s all about building a relationship and chemistry, and with them, I genuinely feel it.”
