Production company JOJX has added Paul Butterworth to its roster, marking the director’s first U.S. representation. He is already well established as a tabletop director in the U.K., Europe, Australia and Asia. The Bristol, U.K.-based Butterworth is handled in the U.K. by Johnny Foreigner and elsewhere globally by Gesas.
Butterworth has developed a reputation for crafting charming and emotive films rooted in authenticity. Throughout his career, he has held many roles within the world of advertising and filmmaking, allowing him to distill best creative practices from some of the industry’s leading directors and build his own personal approach to brand work.
Butterworth’s filmmaking exploits span both narrative and tabletop work. He has helmed immersive projects for Lurpak, Sainsbury’s, Ford, BMW, Ferrero, Etihad Airways, MTV, Caterpillar, and WWE. Butterworth has garnered international awards for his work, including Best Director and Best Editor at Promax Australia and New Zealand.
Pedro Aragão De Oliveira, partner and executive producer at L.A.-based JOJX, said of Butterworth, “His tabletop work is fresh and stands out from the traditional, really leading the game. Pair that with his uncanny ability to draw you in emotionally and you have an easy sell to agencies. JOJX has already won two job bids for him, including a Kashi rebrand. We’re honored to be his first representation in the U.S.”
Butterworth related, “I look forward to really diving into the U.S. market and creating my best work yet with them (JOJX).”
