Director Nina Holmgren has landed her first U.S. representation, joining SMUGGLER for commercials and music videos. SMUGGLER additionally handles Danish filmmaker Holmgren internationally, with the exception of Denmark, Sweden and Norway where she continues to be repped by production house Bacon.
With a background in fine arts, documentary, and as a former champion athlete, Holmgren brings a distinctive voice to her work, combining skills in storytelling and aesthetic expression. She won three Young Directors Awards at the 2019 Cannes Lions for her films I Want You to Panic, a cautionary tale about climate change, and Right to Play, which centers on the founder of the first all-women’s soccer team in Afghanistan fighting for gender equality.
Holmgren also has strong ties to the fashion world and received international acclaim with her film Club 99.7, a tribute to old age with a focus on her grandfather, a style icon and poet, for clothing brand Le Fix. The film premiered exclusively on Nowness and won Best Branded Content at The One Show x Free the Bid and was shortlisted at Cannes Lions.
Holmgren said she was drawn to SMUGGLER in that is “a progressive company” that embraces “bold, visionary ideas” and “strives for high-level craftsmanship.” She added that SMUGGLER “just feels like the perfect place for pushing the boundaries of storytelling.”
