Biscuit Filmworks has added Ayse Altinok to its directorial roster. She comes over from Wieden + Kennedy, Portland, Ore., where she worked as an art director and directed projects for Nike.
A Turkish-born director, Altinok has to her credit short films and commercials that have been recognized with honors from the Cannes Film Festival, Clio Awards and the AICP Show. Her style is informed by her art school background, 10 years of experience with Wieden + Kennedy both in Amsterdam and Portland, and short film, commercial and music video projects. Her first short film, Hortum, was an official selection at The Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner in 2009, and screened at over seven other film festivals around the world.
Altinok’s second short film, The Particulars, was also screened at Cannes the next year, and won Best Drama and Best Actor at the Oregon Independent Film Festival. The emotional narrative and visually rich overtones in her work are reflected in recent projects, A Day At the Mall Reminds Me of America, a short film created for MotionPoems, and “Katie,” a music video for rap artist Beedy. Altinok got her start in advertising as a senior creative at Nike and later as an art director on projects for clients that included Coca-Cola, Levi’s, Escada, EA, and Procter & Gamble.
Founded by director Noam Murro and managing director Sean Lacy in 2000, Biscuit Filmworks maintains a directing roster which includes Murro, Altinok, Aaron Ruell, Aaron Stoller, Andreas Nilsson, Bruce St. Clair, Christopher Riggert, Clay Weiner, Freise Brothers, Gary Freedman (The Glue Society), Matt Devine (The Glue Society), Jeff Low, Matt Dilmore, Ruairi Robinson and Steve Rogers.
