THE SPOTS
"Anthem" (:60/:30) features a Mitsubishi driver traveling through various locales during different seasons and weather patterns, while men and women in red Mitsubishi Motors technician coveralls line the road, forming a wall of people wherever the car drives. The technicians stand stoically, hands behind their backs, watching the vehicle as it passes, as if on standby should the customer need assistance. As the Mitsubishi pulls to a stop, one technician steps out of the line to tighten the tire valve cap, then steps back into line. The spot uses Tommy James and the Shondells’ "Draggin’ the Line" as the soundtrack. In "Road Trip" (:30), a technician casually performs regular vehicle maintenance service under a Mitsubishi vehicle, which happens to be in motion. The technician then nonchalantly rolls out from underneath the moving car, pops up the creeper like a skateboard, and walks away confidently. Both commercials promote the "Best backed cars in the world," and end with the tagline, "Wake up and drive."
"Anthem" began airing Oct. 11, and "Road Trip" broke in November.
