Julia Williams upped to head of production
Stacy Peterson has been promoted to editor and Julia Williams has been upped to head of production at Cut+Run New York. Peterson joins a NY-based editors roster that features Jon Grover, Akiko Iwakawa, Joel Miller, Gary Knight, Georgia Dodson, Dan Maloney and TG Herrington.
Shortly after graduating with a film degree from Northwestern University, Peterson moved to NY in search of an editing career. A chance but fortuitous introduction to EP Rana Martin and editor Iwakawa, then at Final Cut, led to her first assistant position. Peterson moved to Cut+Run with Iwakawa, and has since collaborated with a variety of the company’s editing talent.
Peterson has edited projects for Gillette, BMW, Tide, Clorox, Newcastle and Nickelodeon, confirming that the time was right to assume the full-time editor role.
Meanwhile Williams has been a producer with Cut+Run for nearly two years. Williams began her career at Beast, where she grew into the producer role and helped the New York office launch its finishing department. She has been similarly instrumental in developing the Cut+Run’s finishing services, and will continue to oversee its expansion into design, motion graphics and visual effects. As head of production, Williams will work in tandem with EP Martin, overseeing the producer team and the office’s daily operations, both creative editorial and finish.
In addition to its NY operation, Cut+Run maintains offices in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Austin, Texas.

Music, audio post and sonic branding house Barking Owl has taken on exclusive representation of Oscar and Emmy-winning composer Kris Bowers for advertising and branded content.
Bowers’ recent film scores include The Wild Robot and Bob Marley: One Love, alongside acclaimed past works such as The Color Purple (2023), King Richard and Green Book. In addition to his work as a composer, Bowers is a visionary director. He recently took home the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject for his directorial work on The Last Repair Shop. The emotionally touching short film spotlights four of the people responsible for repairing the musical instruments used by students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The Last Repair Shop reflects the positive influence that musical instruments have on the youngsters who play them, and the adults in the LAUSD free repair service who keep them working and in tune.
Barking Owl CEO Kirkland Alexander Lynch said of Bowers, “His artistry, diversity of style and depth of storytelling bring an unparalleled edge to the work we create for global brands. His presence on our roster reflects our continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of sound and music in advertising.”
Johanna Cranitch, creative director, Barking Owl, added, “Kris first caught my attention when he released his record ‘Heroes + Misfits’ where he fused together his jazz sensibility with a deeply ingrained aptitude for melody, so beautifully.... Read More
