Woman-owned production company Tinygiant has added director, writer, and producer Stoney Sharp to its talent roster for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content. Sharp is known for directing a wide swath of comedic television shows, commercials, and new media, including IFC’s Comedy Bang! Bang!, Comedy Central’s Hood Adjacent with James Davis, Sarah Silverman’s I Love You America for Hulu, Netflix’s The Who Was Show, and TruTV’s Billy on the Street.
A graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Film Production and longtime director for the legendary Upright Citizens Brigade, Sharp has sharpened his teeth in comedy for over a decade. His commercial work has seen him collaborating with companies known for embracing the weird, with prominent brands like Old Spice, Ruffles, Geico, and Adult Swim. He’s also collaborated with various comedic voices, such as Sarah Silverman, Judd Apatow, Sarah Schaefer, and Jacqueline Novak. In addition, Sharp has developed and directed several projects highlighting underrepresented voices, including Blackspiracy with James Davis, End Times Girls Club from Broadway Video, and Melissa Hunter’s Small Victories for Turner.
Quirky, quick-witted, and above all, memorable, Stoney’s commercial campaigns showcase his eccentric style and mastery for telling succinct stories with staying power. Tinygiant founder and executive producer Veronica Diaferia said, “Stoney has the distinctive point-of-view and captivating approach to visual storytelling that we look for when seeking out new talent. He also happens to be really, really funny–even my nine-year-old son is a fan! We’re excited to see what we create together.”
“What made Tinygiant really stand out is their commitment to creative narrative, diversity, and innovative thinking,” said Sharp. “I’m thrilled to be on board with them — now, let’s tell some jokes!”
Prior to joining the Brooklyn-based Tinygiant, Sharp had been directing in the advertising arena as a freelancer.
