Creative content house Chromista–founded by Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) and partners/EPs Scott Franklin, Sandy Haddad and Ted Robbins–has added director Morgan Cooper to its roster for exclusive representation spanning commercials, branded content and music videos in the U.S. Chromista becomes Cooper’s first career commercial production company roost.
Cooper’s work combines art and with a deep sense of purpose. His short film Bel-Air, a reimagined trailer for The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, has earned praise. A Vimeo Staff Pick, the viral film depicts the TV show as a drama set in 2019. Original Fresh Prince star Will Smith also lauded the film, and interviewed Cooper on the making of it.
Cooper most recently wrote and directed U SHOOT VIDEOS?, a short film in collaboration with Adorama that is currently a Vimeo Staff Pick. Based on a true story, the film follows Moji, a young filmmaker who shoots low budget music videos for a living in Kansas City and is looking to expand his horizons and take a leap forward. Cooper’s additional films include Vimeo Staff Pick State of America (A Visual Expression), LEVITATION, and Room Tone.
Cooper’s Midwest roots and experience growing up in Kansas City resonate throughout his work, which features a distinct voice, strong vision, and passion for storytelling. He began his career as a cinematographer, a role which developed his visually distinctive brand of storytelling.
Chromista partner/EP Robbins assessed, “In a very saturated market, Morgan truly stands out because of his diverse filmmaking abilities as a writer, director and cinematographer. He is a true storyteller who understands his audience and how to convey the messages he wants to be heard.”
Cooper joins a Chromista directorial roster which includes Aronofsky, Eliza McNitt, Alessandro Pacciani, Xavier Mairesse, Marcelo Burgos, Kasra Farahani, Elliott Lester, Daniel Portrait, and Josh Cole.
Cooper is handled for film and TV by CAA.
