Brown To Assume Duties On An Interim Basis.
By MILLIE TAKAKI
Aidan Foley, CEO of Hollywood-headquartered Cinesite, exited the company last week. He decided not to renew his contract and is considering offers in the Internet and new media arenas. Foley said he "will make a decision in the near future" regarding his next roost.
Cinesite is the digital effects and postproduction services arm of the Rochester, N.Y.-headquartered Eastman Kodak Company. Joerg Agin, senior VP of Kodak, noted that Foley’s five-year tenure at Cinesite had been pivotal in the company’s evolution. "He’s led our [Cinesite’s] transition from an equipment-based strategy to one based on digital services," said Agin of Foley. "He’s built a very high-profile effects business and helped to develop our digital intermediate and digital mastering capability."
Colin Brown, who manages Cinesite’s London facility, will handle Foley’s responsibilities on an interim basis. Plans call for Brown to divide his time between Hollywood and London.
The possibility of Foley’s departure had been a subject of discussion between him and Agin for some time. Foley said that Kodak’s management team had "looked at a number of opportunities for me" within the company, but he ultimately opted to pursue other interests. He added that he’s leaving at a time "when everything is going well" for Cinesite and that the company is primed for the future.
Agin corroborated that Cinesite is "an important part of our [Kodak’s] long-term strategy, and we are managing it for growth." He expects that Brown will facilitate a smooth transition in the wake of Foley’s departure.
