Director Zach Math has joined the roster of production house Caviar. He had previously been handled by Bob Industries for commercials and branded content.
Math is well-known in the commercial world for his unique comedic characters and conceptual storytelling. His series of spots for K-Mart (“Ship My Pants”) garnered over 50 million views on YouTube and won a Webby Award. Two of his branded shorts are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art.
His documentary feature The Final Member premiered at the Toronto Hot Docs International Film Festival and played festivals all over the world. The distribution rights were purchased by Drafthouse Films and the documentary was released on Netflix.
Since then, he’s worked with brands such as Fox Sports, Nissan, AT&T, Comcast and the NFL consistently winning Cannes Lions along the way.
While excited to continue working in the advertising and commercial world, Math is also looking forward to taking advantage of Caviar’s film and TV capabilities to develop his own long format projects.
“Zach has proven his directorial expertise throughout the branded content world,” said Jasper Thomlinson, exec producer at Caviar Los Angeles. “His sophisticated visual style, skills as a writer and comedic sensibility fits in here perfectly.”
