Bob ‘n Sheila’s Edit World, San Francisco, has added Smoke and Flame artist Ernie Camacho and senior producer Saima Awan. Both recently moved from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.
Camacho’s last roost was Hollywood Digital, Santa Monica (a.k.a. HD West), where he spent two years as a visual effects artist. He earlier worked at such Southern California shops as CIS, Hollywood; Post Logic, Hollywood; Encore Hollywood; and the now defunct Editel/LA. His work spans short- and long-form, although he is best known in the commercial arena. At CIS he worked as an effects editor on the feature Mr. Holland’s Opus as well as on the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation. His credits over the years include spots for such advertisers as Ford, Coca-Cola and RCA.
At Bob ‘n Sheila’s, Camacho has already served as Smoke and Flame artist/online editor on jobs for Budweiser and SBC/ Pacific Bell out of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco. Bob Spector, the "Bob" in Bob ‘n Sheila’s, served as offline editor on the projects, which were produced by Awan.
Joining Bob ‘n Sheila’s represents a homecoming of sorts to Northern California, in that Camacho started his commercial online/effects career 13 years ago in San Francisco, at now defunct On Tape Productions.
Awan comes over from Red Car/Santa Monica, describing her stay there as being "very rewarding." She explained that she felt the time was right for her to take on "a new challenge," noting that she was impressed with editors/ company founders Spector and Sheila Sweeney, as well as with executive producer Gina LoCurcio. Awan will be producing for Camacho in addition to editors Ted DePalma, Tim Fender and Ed Feldman. Lisa Ashe also serves as a company producer. Executive producer LoCurcio continues to produce, as well as to oversee bidding and day-to-day operations.
