John Kaplan is joining production and entertainment company Alldayeveryday as partner and president. Based in Los Angeles, Kaplan will manage the flagship office in the Downtown Arts District (DTLA) and lead the company alongside partners Michael Karbelnikoff and Arrow Kruse.
Kaplan comes to Alldayeveryday after a decade at Creative Artists Agency, where he served as a sr. agent in CAA’s award-winning entertainment marketing division representing Fortune 500 brands including Coca-Cola, GM, AB InBev, Diageo, Canada Goose and Fender for content and marketing initiatives. Prior to joining CAA, Kaplan held creative and production roles at Omnicom’s Davie-Brown Entertainment, RadicalMedia and Embassy Row (Sony Pictures TV) where he was a founding member. In 2017, Kaplan formed Prizefighter, a boutique entertainment media consultancy and talent management company. Prizefighter will move to the Allday LA office and continue to operate as a strategic partner to Allday focused on developing and managing unique talent.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join my new partners–Michael and Arrow–and the rest of the Allday family,” said Kaplan. “As entertainment, media, technology and brands continue to converge, I believe that Allday and its roster of creative talent are uniquely positioned to continue to drive culture through original content and dynamic premium experiences.”
Company chairman Michael Karbelnikoff stated, “John shares our vision around the new synergy between brands and entertainment––and our collective belief that investing in exceptional creative talent that can work across both established and emerging disciplines is a key component in expanding Alldayeveryday’s offering. His experience as someone who has produced traditional TV and film projects in addition to branded entertainment and advertising campaigns is a natural fit for Alldayeveryday.”
Alldayeveryday is coming off a busy year having produced a wide range of work across its creative roster and divisions. Highlights include the premiere of Adam Bhala Lough’s documentary The New Radical at the Sundance Film Festival; producing a national advertising campaign for Gatorade with director Matt Baron featuring Michael Jordan, Serena Williams and Peyton Manning; Nike’s Cortez launch from Kai Regan and the Allday Creative Group; multiple films for the Beats music series Beat by Beat; Channel 4’s premiere of Jake Sumner’s music documentary I Was There When House Was Born; and Cheryl Dunn’s tribute documentary to the LGBT community on the anniversary of Stonewall, Silverlake Out Loud, for Lyft.
The addition of Kaplan to the partner team marks the beginning of what will be a year of major expansion for Allday. On the entertainment front, Allday has several projects already in the works for 2018 including The Color of Cola, a feature film at HBO with Mark Landsman and Viola Davis/ Juvee; Cheryl Dunn’s upcoming documentary on artist Dash Snow for Viceland; and retrospective hip-hop series, Check the Rhyme, with producer Jamie Patricof and Electric City.
Additionally, this spring the company is opening a new office in Portland, Oregon and relaunching their DTLA Arts District project space. They also have plans to expand overseas later this year.
EP Kruse said of Kaplan, “Having known John for over a decade, I am confident that his addition to the company along with the strategic connection with Prizefighter will unlock even bigger opportunities for our talent and clients in the future.”
