Method Studios, Deluxe’s global visual effects company, has named industry veteran Bill Tlusty as VP in Vancouver. He will be responsible for supervising operations and encouraging further growth of the Vancouver facility, which currently employs more than 200 artists and recently turned out work for 20th Century Fox (“The Maze Runner”), Paramount Pictures (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”) and The Weinstein Co. (“The Giver”).
Tlusty has worked in the visual effects industry for 16 years. Most recently, he served as executive producer for Rhythm & Hues in Los Angeles, where he was lead executive on movies including VFX Academy Award winner “Life of Pi” and the nominated “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
Prior to joining Rhythm & Hues in 2005, Tlusty worked for Industrial Light & Magic, serving on all three “Star Wars” prequels and other blockbusters.
Currently Method is working on such films as “Jupiter Ascending” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Tlusty said he was drawn to Method’s strong talent pool in Vancouver and across all its studios. Method has facilities in Los Angeles, Vancouver, New York, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, London, Sydney and Melbourne.
Oscar and Emmy-Winning Composer Kris Bowers Joins Barking Owl For Advertising, Branded Content
Music, audio post and sonic branding house Barking Owl has taken on exclusive representation of Oscar and Emmy-winning composer Kris Bowers for advertising and branded content.
Bowersโ recent film scores include The Wild Robot and Bob Marley: One Love, alongside acclaimed past works such as The Color Purple (2023), King Richard and Green Book. His contributions to television are equally impressive, with scores for hit series like Bridgerton, When They See Us, Dear White People, and his Daytime Emmy Award-winning score for The Snowy Day.
In addition to his work as a composer, Bowers is a visionary director. He recently took home the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject for his directorial work on The Last Repair Shop. The emotionally touching short film spotlights four of the people responsible for repairing the musical instruments used by students in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The Last Repair Shop reflects the positive influence that musical instruments have on the youngsters who play them, and the adults in the LAUSD free repair service who keep them working and in tune.
