Director/cinematographer Sean Thonson has joined The Bigger Picture for U.S. representation spanning commercials and branded content. He brings to the L.A.-based production company a body of work which includes virtually every leading automaker, along with clients in the food and beverage, fashion, lifestyle and sports categories. Prior to coming aboard the talent roster at The Bigger Picture, Thonson had most recently been repped by production house Supply & Demand.
As a director and a cinematographer, Thonson is the creative eye behind the camera, the empathetic soul guiding the actors. He is equally comfortable with designed and scripted broadcast commercials as he is with online branded docu-style content. That part of his repertoire has been informed by personal documentary work, including several award winning short films about the people and places he’s discovered while traveling the world.
“This is a human experience business, and my priority and value is fostering meaningful connections and lasting relationships with both clients and directors,” said The Bigger Picture founder/EP Tracy Mays. “Sean is someone who matches an adventurous spirit and powerful directing talent with incredible business savvy. Just as important, he cares deeply about the people he works with and that creates a very special experience on set.”
Thonson said, “Tracy and I have known each other for a long time, and I know the integrity and care she brings to the work and her company. In that respect, it’s really a creative partnership that comes at a very right time for my career and the industry. We share a very similar philosophy about life and making a mark that resonates on screen and off.”
Thonson is an ardent outdoorsman and environmentalist, and is committed to the simple premise that one has to try to make the world a better place. His work reflects all of these things, pushing him into new realms and new possibilities. The Bigger Picture is also expansive, offering a global scope with key creative alliances that include Clockwork Films, a company with bases of operation in Sydney, Perth, Auckland, London and Cape Town.
