A total of 68 Cubes were presented in Motion/Film/Gaming Craft and Publication Design on the fourth day of the weeklong online ADC 99th Annual Awards celebrating excellence in craft and innovation in all forms of design and advertising.
Best of Discipline winner in Motion/Film/Gaming Craft was TBWAMedia Arts Lab with Pulse Films and Framestore, all in Los Angeles, for Apple “Bounce.” Directed by Oscar Hudson via Pulse Films, “Bounce” makes the mundane, sometimes mind-numbing morning commute anything but routine–and turns it into a lot of fun. The protagonist dons his AirPods earbuds–plugging into a catchy tune–and hits the sidewalk. But instead of his feet hitting the pavement, they instead get some spring from a trampoline-like effect. Seemingly every surface he touches puts a bounce–literally–in his step, propelling him along on his commute. He bounces about in the urban setting, making for a memorable joyride, accompanied by a soundtrack titled “I Learnt Some Jazz Today” from producer/composer Tessellated.
“Bounce” also took two ADC Gold Cubes on the day in the film competition–as did antoni garage Berlin (both for Mercedes-Benz’s “Bertha Benz: The Journey That Changed Everything”). The latter was directed by Sebastian Strasser via Anorak Film, Berlin. The film tells the story of the world’s first long distance drive in a car from Mannheim to Pforzheim, Germany in 1888. Early one morning, Bertha took her two sons out for the 12 hour, 65 mile trip. She understood the potential of her husband’s invention, and was determined to prove it worked at a time when people were skeptical of this new technology. Shot like a classic Western with modern stylization, the film conveys the fear and confusion of the people who witnessed Bertha’s incredible journey, and dramatizes one of her stops along the way. Mechanics didn’t exist, so she went to the pharmacy to find fuel, used her hat pin to clear fuel lines, and her garter for insulation. Through her dedication, she paved the way for the invention of the Benz Patent Motor Car.
In Publication Design, FCB Chicago with Lord + Thomas and The Mill, both Chicago, was awarded Best of Discipline for “The Gun Violence History Book” on behalf of Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence.
Earning two Gold Cubes in Publication Design was Serviceplan Germany Munich (both for Meter Group’s “Made in Fukushima”).
Winners in other disciplines are being announced each day this week, accompanied by daily Instagram Live conversations between ADC 99th jury members and the creatives behind the biggest winning works.

Nikki Baker Becomes CEO At Fallon
Fallon has appointed Nikki Baker as its new CEO. Baker, who joined the creative agency in 2018 and has served as co-chief creative officer with Leslie Shaffer since 2021, succeeds Rocky Novak, who has been in the role since 2019.
Baker’s promotion to CEO comes at a time of significant momentum for the agency, including six consecutive years of growth and award-winning work.
Baker’s recent career highlights include creatively leading the Walmart partnership with the Publicis Groupe team and spearheading innovative campaigns such as the award-winning “RomCommerce” 23-episodic series and the internet-breaking Mean Girls campaign, among hundreds of other campaigns together with the brand over the past few years. Together with Shaffer, Baker has also been instrumental in elevating Fallon’s creative output for longstanding clients like Arby’s, Mattress Firm, and Front Door/American Home Shield.
“I’ve always been an admirer of Fallon, even before I joined. The chance to lead the agency is an absolute honor. Fallon is a place like no other with amazing talent and a legacy of building big, innovative, creative ideas,” said Baker. “Rocky has represented the best of Fallon. He’s been a great leader, and I couldn’t be more excited to take the reins and lead the agency through to the next chapter. With creativity at our core, we’re going to be as ambitious as ever, push boundaries, and continue embracing emerging platforms to deliver work that truly resonates in culture.”
