The Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) has announced the members of its Curatorial Committee, the final jury level for the eighth annual AICP Show: The Art & Technique of the American Television Commercial. For the first time, agency creatives, directors and editors are joining commercial producers on the committee to review the final honorees for the ’99 AICP Show, which debuts June 9 at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York.
The Curatorial Committee includes: Ted Bell, worldwide creative director/chairperson, Young & Rubicam, New York; Andy Berlin, chairman, Berlin, Cameron & Partners, New York; Rick Boyko, co-president, Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, New York; Regina Ebel, director of TV production/senior VP, BBDO New York; Stacy Wall, creative director, Wieden & Kennedy, New York; Chuck Willis, partner/editor, bicoastal Crew Cuts; Julie Atherton, president, bicoastal Atherton; Alex Blum, partner/executive producer and Tom Mooney, partner/ director of sales, bicoastal Headquarters; Alfred Califano, executive producer, bicoastal OneSuch Films; Carol Case, partner/managing director, bicoastal Original Film and Holiday; Joanne Ferraro, national director of sales, Creative Film Management International, New York; Bob Giraldi, president/director, bicoastal Giraldi Suarez Productions; Tom Hajdu, creative director/owner/composer, bicoastal tomandandy; Nick Wollner, partner, and Mark Pellington, director, Crossroads Films, bicoastal and Chicago; and Frank Scherma, proprietor, bicoastal/ international @radical.media.
"The AICP Show is also know as ‘America’s Reel,’ " said AICP president Matt Miller. "It presents the best work of our advertising industry to the world, so it’s appropriate to expand the make-up of the Show’s Curatorial Committee to include representation by our creative colleagues in the business."
The panel has been invited to MoMA on April 17 to review the results of the balloting on entries in 22 categories. More than 250 judges around the country participated in the voting. The Curatorial Committee is charged with confirming eligibility, appropriateness to category, and the final order of the honorees which will appear in the AICP Show.
Carol Case, who is the AICP Show’s ’99 chairwoman, will host the meeting. "With the help of the AICP Show Board of Governors and my Show Committee, I was able to invite a great group of talented people to join the Curatorial Committee," Case related. "They will ensure that the Show continues to reflect the high quality of the work in our business."
