THE SPOT
The :30 "Protestors" opens with a customer pulling into a parking lot with his dog in the passenger seat. The man leaves the canine in the vehicle and heads into the store. Suddenly all kinds of critters—dogs, cats, birds, iguanas, hamsters and snakes—gather to protest against the supermarket for not carrying products for animals, as well as for not allowing them into the store. Wanting to go to the nearest Petco, the animals start to bark, meow and squawk, the cacophony gradually evolving into a chant of "Petco! Petco!" The commercial concludes with the tag line, "Supermarkets are for people. Petco is for pets. Petco, where the pets go."
Spot broke Sept. 29.
