THE SPOTS
Three :30s feature motion graphics and design to emphasize the security offered by MassMutual in the sometimes chaotic cycle of life. "Happily Ever After" commences with a sperm swimming against a bright blue background as the word "Born" pops onto the screen. This is followed by graphics of "Went to college. Partied too much. Met a girl. Got a job in retail. Had a kid. Had a kid. Had a kid." These graphics flash to the forefront of the screen, and as each life experience passes, the words fade and move to the background where they remain, serving as memory. The commercial concludes with the graphic "Lives Happily Ever After." "Curve Ball" features a role call of some of major league baseball’s greatest pitchers—Whitey Ford, Bob Gibson, Catfish Hunter, Nolan Ryan, Luis Tiant and Randy Johnson. Finally the word "Life" rounds out the list as the voiceover asks, "Which one do you think throws the most hellacious curveball?" "No Prince Charming Required"—which tells the story of a woman who established her own company because she hit a glass ceiling—shows a frog sitting against a bright pink background as graphics appear above the frog: "There was a girl who used to play dress-up. Wanted to be a princess. Went to high school … Got a job. Bumped into a glass ceiling. Started her own business. Never kissed a frog. Never had to." All the commercials end with the financial company’s tag line, "You can’t predict. You can prepare."
