Smoke editor Marc Hamaker has joined visual effects studio Liquid Light as part of the New York companys expansion into broadcast promotion.
Hamaker just completed a four-year tenure as an editor/ compositor in the promotions department of CBS affiliate WBZ-TV, Boston.
Liquid Light recently moved to larger premises with partner company Version 2.editing, and the growth in space and staff will hopefully translate into more broadcast promotion work, according to executive producer Frank Devlin. We want to get more into designing and animating promo graphics as well as editing the promos, which is Marcs strength. In the future, well have a healthy balance between commercial finishing and broadcast promotion production, and thats the way were marketing ourselves, he said.
Liquid Light (formerly Screaming Pictures) was founded by Version 2.editing owner Vito DeSario two years ago. The company recently created the visual effects for Dominos Pizzas Mario Chicken Grill via Deutsch, New York, and MCI WorldComs Dial Like a Man and Cool Woman via MVBMS, New York, and Berwyn Editorial, New York. With PMcD Design, New York, Liquid Light composited all the layers and graphics for the Oxygen Networks Quilt IDs through its in-house ad agency, and did the titles and graphics for Pyrexs Funky Foods via Pedone & Partners, New York.
In addition to Hamaker and Devlin, Liquid Lights staff includes senior Inferno artist Amber Wilson and assistants Steve Volante and Mark Zungola.
Devlin noted that Hamakers television background is ideal for promotional work: Marc is versed in the broadcast world, and Amber Wilson is versed in the commercial world. Between the two, we have a very talented crew that can appeal to very different clients in both the commercial advertising and broadcast businesses.
